A man is arrested for posing as an official tour guide at a major museum in the United States for three weeks.
At first glance, the news might seem like a mere anecdote. But what makes someone a museum guide? What makes a narrative valid? What makes an interpretation legitimate? Who authorises a word, a gaze, a presence? What makes a narrative valid?
INTRUSO is a performative action that disguises itself as a guided museum tour. It explores the figure of the intruder as someone who crosses the boundaries of belonging and momentarily unsettles an established order. Because being an intruder can also mean this: a position never intended to accommodate you. Interrupting the narrative, transforming it. Shifting the gaze. Opening a crack or finding a fissure.
Who decides which bodies belong?
INTRUSO premiered on 3 October 2026 at LM Arte Colección, in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, as part of Visiting the Museum Through Dance, a programme by Ateneo de La Laguna.
